CRIME NEWS

  • A 34-year-old Sheridan man—Cody McCalla—pled no contest to involuntary manslaughter after punching Patrick Mudd during a parking dispute outside the county fairgrounds and will be sentenced on Monday, April 21 at 9 a.m. in Fourth Judicial District Court.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • The WYO Theater and Wyoming Wilderness Association announced they will present the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22. The prestigious event—selected from over 400 entries—features award-winning outdoor storytelling and adventure films for local viewers.  Sheridan Media
  • On April 16, the Brinton Museum announced that longtime curator Barb McNab is retiring after 11½ years of service. She will remain full-time until May 20 then work part-time for the rest of the year to support a smooth transition—her work has deeply shaped the museum's Western and American Indian art exhibitions.  Sheridan Media

  • Sheridan College will host a free spring job and network fair — job seekers can explore part-time, full-time, seasonal, internship, and co-op positions with area businesses. Additional details for employer participation are expected to be released soon.  The Sheridan Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sheridan County Commissioners ratified the Certificate of Substantial Completion for the Sheriff’s Office Renovation and Coroner’s Office/Morgue Project at a meeting this week. The architect found the work substantially complete so the space can be used as planned (contract awarded to Dick Anderson Construction for $1.88 million in 2022).  Sheridan Media
  • During Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, the Sheridan Police Department recognized community service officers Ed Boone and Kris Walker for handling animal control and ordinance enforcement calls—the busiest duty in the department.
