CULTURE NEWS

  • WYO PLAY announced auditions for Spring 2026 youth musical The Lion King Jr. for students in grades 2-9, with group sessions on Friday, Apr. 24 (for grades 2-5) and Saturday, Apr. 25 (for grades 6-9) + possible callbacks, rehearsals starting May 1 and performances June 17-20.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan College's theater and dance program will present its spring production of 'The Lightest Element' by Stella Feehily at the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center — a fresh local showcase of student talent.  The Sheridan Press

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Sheridan gas prices are higher than in other communities today because global oil market volatility is pushing up fuel costs; local drivers report feeling the impact while nearby towns remain more stable.  The Sheridan Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At a meeting this week, the Johnson County School Board awarded the Cloud Peak Elementary playground replacement project to Great Western Installations after reviewing bids from Star Playgrounds and Dakota Playgrounds. Trustee Marcia Goddard moved to approve the contract on April 16.  City of Sheridan
  • John B. Kendrick FFA announced that five (SHS) students will compete at the national FFA convention after winning the Wyoming state championships in Cheyenne.  The Sheridan Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming communities are asking for more time to review nuclear energy plans while federal agencies recruit companies to expand the industry - many worry that rushed decisions could lead to unsafe radioactive waste storage.  Casper Star-Tribune
  • Governor Gordon signed an Executive Order on April 16 to support the SUN Bucks program — a measure that will provide summer meals for low income children. The effort uses state SNAP and education data to fund the program as families face rising grocery prices.  City of Sheridan

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Sheridan WYO Rodeo Wranglers will hold a free open practice on Sunday, April 19 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds. Riders should bring their own horses as they prep for rodeo week starting July 6.  City of Sheridan
