COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Sheridan Community Land Trust is hosting a two-part backcountry skills and trail running discovery session for women led by Jody Sanborn. The first session starts at 6 p.m. on April 30 at Double Eagle Trailhead—while the second begins at 6 p.m. on May 21 at Red Grade Trails Base Trailhead, and both are free.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Sheridan County Public Library System and Neltje Center have partnered to bring more accessible and creative arts opportunities to residents of Sheridan County + the collaboration will expand local arts offerings in the area.  The Sheridan Press

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Sheridan College will host the free Spring Job and Network Fair on April 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Golden Dome—partnered with the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services and the Sheridan VA Healthcare System—to help job seekers meet local employers and attend onsite interviews.  Sheridan Media
  • Rocky Mountain Power will raise rates and add about $14 to monthly bills starting in June — the Wyoming Public Service Commission approved an $85.5 million rate increase to cover higher fossil fuel costs, expensive wildfire insurance, and renewable energy investments.  Wyoming News Now

  • The SCSD#1 Board met Tuesday, April 15 at the main office in Ranchester to honor the Tongue River Girls Basketball team for back-to-back state wins—Head Coach Amanda Cummins thanked the board for their support while Principal Wade Sanford presented key academic and career readiness achievements from TRHS.  Sheridan Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Sheridan County Board of County Commissioners approved three liquor licenses and a bid for a dust control project during its Tuesday meeting, April 15—decisions expected to shape county regulations moving forward.  The Sheridan Press
  • Sheridan County commissioners awarded a just under $428,000 contract on April 16 for the 2025 Congestion Mitigation Air Quality project as recommended by county engineer Ken Muller. The project will treat 65 miles of county roads for dust mitigation and received roughly $226,000 from federal funds and just over $202,000 from the county's Capital Facilities Tax.  City of Sheridan
  • The Sheridan City Police Department will honor communications technicians during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week from April 13 to April 19—this week recognizes dispatchers who help save lives in emergencies. Long-time technician Cynthia Shepherd-Godwin will retire later this year after 25 years of dedicated service.  Sheridan Media
