Sheridan resident Cliff Root, a Vietnam veteran and former CEO who has supported local nonprofits, will visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial later this month to seek personal closure from his wartime experiences — a trip that underscores his enduring commitment to the community.

Ucross Foundation will host its fifth annual Founder’s Day celebration on Saturday, May 30 starting at 11 a.m. Guests will explore the 20,000 acre ranch, meet resident artists (including writers, poets, and composers), enjoy a picnic and tour studios and view the new exhibition during the event.

Sheridan’s Museum at the Bighorns will host Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street’s 'Voices and Votes: Democracy in American' exhibition from April 18 through June 13, featuring a free Family Day on April 18 (10:00 a.m. to noon) and programs on May 16 and 19 exploring suffrage history and local government.

Sheridan Police Chief Travis Koltiska proclaimed April 12 through 18 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week during a city council meeting.

The proclamation honors public safety telecommunicators and marks a reminder of last year's 35,887 calls handled.
