- ➤ A comet discovered on March 29 by Vladimir Bezugly and Michael Mattiazzo is visible before dawn for the next week with binoculars and may brighten as it nears its closest approach to the sun on May 1. - ➤ Sheridan Community Land Trust is inviting community members to join Unearthing Our Past, a Discovery Session that will have archaeologists from Cultural Resource Analysts Inc lead a survey at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 17 at 14 Lane Ln where participants will learn survey techniques and search for Plains Indian artifacts. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ University of Wyoming Extension released a study that shows if Wyoming residents spent 5% of their grocery budget on local foods, local food production could add $36.3 million to the state's GDP while current systems contribute $24.4 million and generate $44.7 million in output each year. The study also found that from 2017 to 2022, direct-to-retailer sales increased 24% and direct-to-consumer sales grew 35%—trends that point to growing local food sales. Sheridan Media

- ➤ On April 10, Sheridan College hosted the Future of Learning event where educators and Governor Mark Gordon explained new ways to mix hands-on projects with classroom lessons — using work-based learning to prepare students for real jobs. - ➤ According to the Wyoming Economic Analysis Division, Wyoming’s population increased to 587,618 residents by July 1st, 2024 after adding more than 2,500 people, and Sheridan County grew nearly 400 residents to almost 33,000.
