- ➤ Sheridan College is hosting its free spring concert by the Sheridan College Symphony Orchestra at 4 p.m. this Sunday at Kinnison Hall & the Whitney Center. The Sheridan Press
- ➤ The Sheridan Community Land Trust hosted its Explore History program on April 8 where historian Cynde Georgen discussed violent events in early county history, and the group announced another session on April 21 at the Tongue River Valley Community Center (TRVCC), Dayton. City of Sheridan
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Sheridan County School District 1 is reviewing its handbook to update cellphone rules per state requirements, with board members expected to decide on the new policy soon at district offices. The Sheridan Press
- ➤ Sheridan Junior High School experienced tension between teachers & students yesterday as disagreements over classroom procedures emerged. School officials met after the incidents to address the issues and work toward a resolution. Sheridan Media
- ➤ Families in Sheridan are invited to attend Unplug: Herons at Home, a free outdoor learning event taking place from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 23 at Sportsman’s Warehouse. The program is led by ecologist Dr. Julie Rieder — offering hands-on exploration of heron habitat and local ecosystems. City of Sheridan
- ➤ SCSD#3 Board met on April 8 where visitors praised the recent student trip and supported Superintendent Chase Christensen as board members approved propane bid advertising, junior high coach recruitment, and an alternate for Clear Creek – the next meeting is May 13 at 6 p.m. in the board room. - ➤ Local fisheries biologist Andrew Nikirk said Sheridan’s ponds and lakes are being stocked for anglers — but warned that water above 75°F can kill fish. He advised anglers to use a pocket thermometer — and fish early with proper catch-and-release techniques to protect local stocks. Sheridan Media

- ➤ City of Sheridan Parks Director Steve Gage said crews began spring cleanup on Friday, April 10 to remove winter debris, rake and mulch grounds, and test irrigation systems in parks (also checking playground safety) for summer readiness. City of Sheridan
- ➤ Wyoming Game and Fish Department specialist Reed Moore clarified on April 10 that all watercraft—except paddleboards and nonmotorized inflatables under 10 feet—must display an AIS decal when launched, with decals available from license agents or online for $5 on nonmotorized and $10 on motorized vessels. - ➤ Johnson County commissioners considered sponsoring a grant application to the Wyoming Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund for about $117,000 to upgrade the Dry Creek Petrified Tree Environmental Education Area trail (13 miles east of Buffalo), making it more accessible for all visitors.
