EDUCATION NEWS

  • At the April 9 SCSD#3 meeting, a parent said that AI helps both students and teachers while the board approved staff contracts, accepted resignations, offered bonuses for bus drivers, and approved policies (including AI usage rules) along with bids for school vehicles. Superintendent Chase Christensen said the RIDE Demonstration of Learning event was held at Sheridan College on April 10 and added that the board will host a staff appreciation week and a greenhouse ribbon cutting on April 22 (followed by a listening session on gym renovations).  Sheridan Media

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Andrew Nikirk from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department announced on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse that local ponds will soon be stocked with sport fish this spring. The department uses a special water truck—equipped to keep the fish cool and oxygenated—to safely transport them to their new home ponds.  Sheridan Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sheridan County Conservation District Manager Carrie Rogaczewski announced that Rancher’s Night Out will be held on Thursday, April 24 at 6 p.m. at Wyarno Bar and Grill—where stakeholders can share their views and hear from John Haskell of Ranch Right LLC; the free event requires an RSVP to ensure enough food is provided along with a taco bar and cash bar.  Sheridan Media
  • Today, Sheridan County commissioners approved rules governing aircraft self-fueling at the county airport—airport manager Robert Gill explained that the county-owned self-serve station is exempt while operators using their own equipment must follow the new rules—and no public comment was offered.  Sheridan Media
  • The Wyoming State Forestry Division said that warm, dry conditions—especially in the eastern part of the state—will likely cause an active fire season and urged residents to have a fire plan. They noted that federal funding cuts may reduce staff and equipment but added that extra tankers and a helicopter and state agreements will help share needed resources.  Wyoming News Now
