- ➤ The Ucross Foundation is presenting Resilience (an exhibition featuring the work of 2025 Ucross Fellowship recipients) at Ucross Art Gallery through May 15 with free admission; an artist talk and reception will be held at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on April 17 at Sheridan College and the gallery. - ➤ Cheyenne Harris performed as Miss Argentina during the Big Horn High School dress rehearsal for Beetlejuice Jr. on Tuesday, showcasing the production's creative energy at the school. Sheridan Media
- ➤ WYO Theater announced the third annual REACH Benefit Show to support local autism services. Country artist Jessica Lynn will headline the event on Saturday, April 11 at 6:15 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall + additional live acts and raffle prizes are planned. Sheridan Media
- ➤ Sheridan College hosts a free symphony concert by its orchestra at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 12 in Kinnison Hall at the Whitney Center for the Arts. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On April 6, the Sheridan County School District No. 2 Board appointed Drew Gallagher as principal of Sagebrush Elementary; he will assume the role in early August (replacing Justin Rohrer, who becomes assistant superintendent). Sheridan Media
- ➤ Professor Stephine Koltiska from Sheridan College will present Moment in Time, a student dance performance exploring personal growth and self-reflection, at 7 p.m. Friday, April 10 at Kinnison Hall (featuring nine performers from dance and theatre programs). City of Sheridan
- ➤ Sheridan's new youth drumline, Sheridan County Cadets, will hold auditions for little drummers on Friday, April 10 from 6 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 11 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the WYO Theater—auditions are designed to be low-pressure and beginner-friendly with cost announced later. - ➤ Sheridan College will host a free public lecture on protecting Thailand’s migrating giant honeybees at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Room W153 of the Whitney Academic Center (local experts will share insights on the bees' role in conservation). The Sheridan Press
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Sheridan County Conservation District is accepting bids to demolish the 100-year-old Old Acme Power Plant building north of town along the Tongue River. The demolition contract will be awarded next month and work may start by the end of June after a public meeting on April 8 at the county library. City of Sheridan
- ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department reminds Sheridan boaters that aquatic invasive species prevention remains vital — the local inspection station is open Thursdays through Sundays and will soon offer daily service as boating season picks up. Boaters must remove vegetation, drain water and display AIS decals as required by state law. Sheridan Media
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department mailed or handed 8,500 blood collection kits to elk hunters in 2025, with the Wildlife Health Lab testing 753 samples and finding 22 positive for brucellosis. In 2026, surveillance will focus on the slopes of the Bighorn Mountains and Cody elk areas. City of Sheridan
