- ➤ Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns has launched its April’s Home is the Key campaign today — every purchase at the ReStore will support affordable housing efforts in Sheridan County. - ➤ At the SCSD#2 Board meeting on April 7, Highland Park Elementary principal Molly Swan presented a slide show about students and noted the retirements of three staff while several staff members joined her. Board members approved school policies and the 2025-2026 calendar starting August 25 after receiving 922 community responses—one parent also raised concerns over library policy compliance. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Sheridan County Conservation District said extra water quality tests will be done on the Tongue River after the Elk Fire as part of its regular rotation. About two extra water samples will be collected in late April and early May — funding comes from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality Clean Water Act — and the district is waiting for state approval on its plan. - ➤ The Wyoming Game and Fish Department tested 5,276 animal samples for chronic wasting disease in 2024 and found 726 positive cases statewide, with mule deer bucks at 19.4% & white-tailed bucks at 29.2%.
