COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Tickets for the Sheridan WYO Rodeo will be on sale Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall; Board Chairman Hayden Heaphy said the event will give way to online sales beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, April 7 and in-person sales at the WYO Theater ticketing desk on April 9.  City of Sheridan

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sheridan County YMCA day camps offer a range of arts, sports and science programs developed through local partnerships—Executive Director Liz Cassiday explained on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse that registration is open on a first come first served basis to accept as many kids as possible.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan Junior High School students have been preparing a shortened version of Shakespeare's Macbeth that keeps its heart, directed by Heather Bujans with input from WYO PLAY head teacher Grace Cannon-Wallace. The free performances will start at 7 p.m. on April 17 and 18 at the Sheridan Jr. High School Early Building Auditorium — where students tackle the challenge of learning Renaissance English — to bring a true Shakespearean experience to the community.  Sheridan Media
  • On Wednesday, April 2, Rooted in Wyoming and volunteers from the Sheridan County Extension Service joined Arvada-Clearmont elementary school children at the new A-C School Greenhouse for a planting day with three interactive stations that taught about worms, soils and seed growth. The students planted seeds for lettuce, green onions and other foods as part of the Farm to Cafeteria program and will care for the plants until they are moved outdoors when warmer weather arrives.  Sheridan Media

  • Former U.S. Sen. Alan K. Simpson died on March 14 at 93-and-a-half, and his services began in Cheyenne with his lying in state before continuing in Laramie and Cody. Speakers including state leaders and family members shared memories and tributes to honor his long life—highlighting his deep ties to Wyoming.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Gavin Dougherty has settled into his role as Dayton’s new game warden since arriving in December 2024, replacing Jake Miller who transferred to the Pinedale district. Dougherty—a native of New Jersey with a biology degree from Maryville College—said he values Dayton’s close-knit community near the Bighorns and plans to build strong ties with local landowners and the public.  City of Sheridan
  • Sheridan County Commissioners approved Amendment One to the Public Health Preparedness contract with the Wyoming Department of Health at their meeting this week.
