COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Tickets for the Sheridan WYO Rodeo will be on sale Saturday, April 5 from noon to 5 pm at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall — online sales will start Monday, April 7 at 12:01 a.m. and in-person sales will resume April 9 at the WYO Theater on Main Street.  Sheridan Media

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Chamber welcomed new business High Country Contracting LLC—owned by Colton Haynes—with an Ambassadors' ribbon cutting on March 26, introducing its forestry and land management services. The company will offer property enhancements such as forestry mulching and road maintenance to improve usability and safety.  Sheridan Media

ECONOMY NEWS

  • In February, Sheridan and Johnson counties saw lower unemployment rates as seasonal job gains took hold. Sheridan's rate fell from 4.4% to 3.9% and Johnson's dropped from 4.0% to 3.4%—the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services reported.  Sheridan Media

  • Sheridan High School announced honor roll selections today — awarding spots on the Blue and Gold rolls — to recognize students' academic success.  The Sheridan Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Since December 2024, Gavin Dougherty has served as Dayton game warden for Wyoming Game and Fish in the Sheridan Region, replacing warden Jake Miller. A native of New Jersey who earned a biology degree from Maryville College, he excelled at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy and said he chose Dayton for its wildlife and small community—he looks forward to building close relationships with local residents.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan Police Department Chief Travis Koltiska and Captain Tom Ringley shared 2024 traffic management statistics on Public Pulse, noting that state reportable accidents include cases with over $1,000 in damage, injuries, or involvement of alcohol—an increase in alcohol-related crashes was noted. They explained that officers issued citations for violations like reckless driving, tailgating, and failure to yield—emphasizing that posted speed limits are strictly enforced.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan officials announced that a new property tax refund program has opened for eligible property owners—applications are now accepted and details will be provided at government offices.  The Sheridan Press
