- ➤ The U.S. Small Business Administration announced that low interest federal disaster loans are now available for small businesses and private nonprofits who suffered losses from the drought that started Jan. 1. Applicants in Sheridan and other counties can receive up to $2 million with terms up to 30 years and interest rates as low as 4% for businesses and 3.625% for nonprofits — payments will not begin until 12 months after the first disbursement and applications must be submitted by Nov. 25. - ➤ The Sheridan Community Land Trust announced on April 1 a free SCLT Explore History program to honor George Ostrom—who created Wyoming’s iconic bucking horse and rider symbol—with sessions on April 8 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at The Hub on Smith and on April 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at TRVCC in Dayton. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Mark Gordon and the Wyoming Department of Revenue announced that the property tax refund program for eligible homeowners is now open for applications. Homeowners must apply online or at local County Treasurer offices by June 2 after paying their full 2024 taxes and may get a refund up to half the median tax or 75 percent of their bill, with the Legislature adding an extra $10.5 million to support the program. - ➤ Sheridan County Commissioners approved the creation of a Semiquincentennial Committee to help plan the country’s 250th birthday celebration this year. The committee was formed by a split vote — after a previous tie vote due to an absence — as some members opposed using public tax dollars for the project. Sheridan Media
- ➤ Governor Mark Gordon and the Wyoming Department of Revenue announced today that the property tax refund program for eligible homeowners is open for applications online and at local County Treasurer offices. The Legislature approved an extra $10.5 million to aid homeowners and the program offers a refund of up to one‐half the median tax or 75 percent of the 2024 bill (forms will be mailed mid‐April) and must be completed by June 2 (after full tax payment).
