Sheridan Recreation District opens registration in early April for spring and summer programs offering youth sports, swim lessons, fitness classes and themed camps (ages 6 to 12) at local venues including Thorne Rider Park and Kendrick Pool.

The initiatives provide families affordable options to stay active and connect.

Hidden Hoot Trail and Hoot Loop close for calving season today, while other trails remain available + visit the Land Trust website for maps and updates.

The Brinton Museum will open its 2026 season with the exhibition Two Wyoming Carvers featuring local artists Roger Haight and Don Johnson from April 3 to May 25.

A free reception will be held Friday, April 3 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Kiwanis Club of Sheridan presented the 64th-annual Stars of Tomorrow Talent Competition on Saturday at the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center.

Division winners were Ari Kerr and Florence Culp in Division One, Olivia Gilbert in Division Two, and Cheyenne Harris in Division Three, while People’s Choice awards went to multiple local acts.

Sheridan Community Land Trust’s SCLT Explore History program will feature historian Cynde Georgen presenting death stories from Sheridan County; the free sessions occur Wed, April 8 at The Hub on Smith at 10:00-11:30 a.m. + Tue, April 21 at Tongue River Valley Community Center in Dayton at 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

The Ye Olde Bronc Players will perform Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors at 7 p.m. April 9-10 in the Early Building Auditorium at SJHS.

The 21 student actors will showcase an abridged play directed by Heather Bujans — part of a school and WYO PLAY theater education program.

Sheridan College will host its Annual Student Juried Exhibition at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 4 at the Edward A.

Whitney Gallery at the Whitney Center for the Arts. The event is free and welcomes art students, families, and community members (with refreshments provided at the reception).

The Acme Working Group will host a meeting on Wednesday, April 8 at 5:30 p.m. — 6:30 p.m. at Fulmer Public Library Inner Circle to update residents on demolition plans and soils cleanup at the former power plant as part of efforts to address water and land quality issues.

Due to unusually dry winter and spring conditions, Sheridan County imposed partial fire restrictions at 8:00 a.m. on March 30, limiting open burning, fireworks, and spark-producing activities outside incorporated areas.

Officials expect the measures to lift once spring rains return.

Sheridan Memorial Hospital will host two forums to explain its plan to pursue a Critical Access Hospital designation.

One forum is on Thursday, April 9 at noon at the Center for a Vital Community (245 Broadway Street) and the other is on Friday, April 10 at noon at the same location.

The annual Sheridan WYO Rodeo ticket sale took place at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall on Saturday; buyers reported the first customer arrived at 6:30 a.m. while a line formed by 7 a.m. with doors opening at noon.
