COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Girl Scout cookie booths will open on March 20 across Montana and Wyoming to support troop activities and fundraisers, with local troops preparing to offer their favorite cookie varieties. The annual event is expected to bring the community together for a cherished tradition.  The Sheridan Press
  • Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns will launch its Let's Open the Door campaign later this month to mark its 50th anniversary and boost support for attainable housing in Sheridan County. The initiative will feature community events culminating in a signature June celebration at Whitney Commons Park.  City of Sheridan

CULTURE NEWS

  • TRHS opened Tuck Everlasting in Dayton on Thursday and will perform it at 6 p.m. today and on Saturday. The show uses an Army tent set-up in the cafeteria to sell cotton candy (a nod to the familiar tent smell for servicemembers).  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will host a hunter education instructor training course on April 17 and 18 in Sheridan for new and certified instructors who wish to lead internet completion classes. Applicants must be at least 18, have a computer and email, hold a valid hunter education certification, and pass a background check.  City of Sheridan
  • On March 12, the Johnson County School Board approved a nearly $139,000 contract from Apex Mechanical of Buffalo for replacing an HVAC system coupling at Cloud Peak Elementary School — including work for heating and cooling groove rubbers, draining and refilling fluid, and a $10,000 insulation budget.  City of Sheridan
  • Sheridan County students (grades K-12) will perform at the 64th Annual Stars of Tomorrow Competition at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 28, showcasing music, dance and other arts with reserved seating tickets at $15 for adults and $10 for students.  City of Sheridan
  • The Big Horn Mountain chapter of SHRM will host an educational luncheon on Tuesday, Mar. 17 at 11:30 a.m. at The Hub on Smith (Sheridan) to bring together local human resource professionals.  The Sheridan Press
  • Sheridan College will host five information nights for its Weekend Welding program on May 7 and 21, June 4 and 18, and July 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. to let prospective students tour the Technical Center, meet instructors, and register before classes begin on July 17.  Sheridan Media
  • Big Horn High School Drama Department invites local residents to see the musical Beetlejuice Jr from April 10 to April 18 — the production will be staged at Big Horn.  The Sheridan Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is hosting free AIS inspector training sessions in Sheridan for watercraft owners and community members to learn inspection techniques. The full-day courses include classroom lessons on aquatic invasive species biology and practical inspections and will be held on March 20 and July 24.  Sheridan Media

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is hosting public meetings in the Sheridan region to discuss proposals for the upcoming 2026 hunting season, and residents are encouraged to share input.  The Sheridan Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • The JCHC board approved a new charge nurse role on March 12, letting CEO Luke Senden hire a specialist to streamline hospital care - reducing patient wait times. The decision supports a more efficient shift transition in both the hospital and clinic.  City of Sheridan
