COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Renovated Kendrick Pool welcomes visitors this summer after construction began in 2024, with updated pools, a refreshed poolhouse, three waterslides, and a zero-entry depth pool available for local enjoyment.  The Sheridan Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 64th Annual Stars of Tomorrow Competition will start at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 28 in Sheridan to celebrate the talents of local students in grades K-12 with music, dance and other performances - reserved seating tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for students.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Arvada-Clearmont School is hosting The Amazing Shake to build student leadership, communication, and professionalism. Assistant Principal Jennifer Betz said the competition will run today and on March 18 while community partners serve as judges and mentors.  City of Sheridan
  • Valor Academy held its second-annual Grandparents Day on Tuesday, where grandparents enjoyed brunch served by grandchildren, listened to song performances and essays honoring veterans, and toured the school.  City of Sheridan
  • At Monday, Mar. 9, the SCSD#2 Board in Sheridan recognized five National Merit Finalists, including Matthew Brown, Lorenzo Cherry, Nicholas Matheney, Lincoln Robbins and Gavin Toth (Robbins was absent) during a meeting celebrating academic achievement.  City of Sheridan
  • On Tuesday, the Sheridan County School District 1 Board of Trustees unanimously renewed administrator contracts for the 2026–2027 school year, ensuring continuous leadership in the district.  The Sheridan Press
  • Sheridan County Commissioners heard a presentation from the John B. Kendrick FFA Agri issues team that featured FFA advisors Chaney Beyer + Clay Christensen and active members discussing foreign land ownership, agriculture contests, and rural health care at the March meeting.  Sheridan Media
  • At the Tuesday, Mar. 10 SCSD#3 Board meeting, two new members—Sam Olson and Ernie Miller—were sworn in to replace resigning members while elections installed a new chairman, treasurer, and recreation representative, and the board approved hiring Madeline Hutchison as a 7-12 social studies teacher with April meetings scheduled for further planning.  Sheridan Media
  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will host hunter education instructor training in Sheridan on April 17-18 to prepare instructors for internet completion courses (Friday features a live session and Saturday reviews class management). ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Lake DeSmet Operations Manager Paul Mavrakis told the Johnson County Commission on March 11 that the dry winter may slow reservoir filling and hopes spring will bring better water levels, as current data shows snowpack is below normal in nearby mountains.  City of Sheridan

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Senator John Barrasso spoke Tuesday on the Senate Floor, stressing that American energy strength will help lower costs and highlighting Wyoming’s role as a key oil producer (recording nearly 14 million barrels per day, more than double production from 15 years ago).  City of Sheridan
  • Wyoming Highway Patrol warned yesterday that distracted driving on state roads remains a safety risk as drivers texting, eating, or adjusting devices may lose control. The agency urged drivers to silence phones and pull over if they need to send messages.  City of Sheridan
