  • The 2026 Ram Run 5K took place Sunday, Mar. 8 at Big Horn Elementary School (73 runners participated) to support Big Horn Middle School and its PTO.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • Downtown Sheridan Association and SAGE Community Arts are set to host Peep Dreams, a community art show that transforms marshmallow peeps into artwork. The event runs from March 16 through April 6 in downtown Sheridan (featuring contributions from local SAGE members).  Sheridan Media

ECONOMY NEWS

  • An Iranian blockade in the Strait of Hormuz pushed oil prices above $100 per barrel on Monday, but experts say the spike will not drive new drilling in Wyoming because operators need steady prices around $80 on federal lands.  Cowboy State Daily

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The revived FFA chapter, now with 123 students, competed in state agri-science and speaking contests last week. It will host a spring fundraiser spaghetti dinner with chicken poop bingo on April 23 at 6:30 p.m. — tickets will be available at the door.  Sheridan Media
  • Gov. Mark Gordon allowed Wyoming’s $3.9 billion K-12 education plan to become law on Monday, March 9 without his signature — the bill boosts teacher salaries to an average of $75,863 while limiting district spending flexibility.  Cowboy State Daily
  • John B. Kendrick FFA members took part in the District FFA Leadership event where Eleanor Tippin won for Prepared Public Speaking, Bella Dunning won for Extemporaneous Speaking, and Audrey Sisson placed third in Creed speaking as Ryann Smith competed. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sheridan wildlife biologist Eric Maichak is congratulated by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department for 20 years of service to local wildlife. He began his career in 2004 in Pinedale and now supports Sheridan’s wildlife efforts.  Sheridan Media
  • Congresswoman Harriet Hageman (R-WY) introduced a bill Monday to change federal bonus bids on coal leases from a five-payment to a 10-payment schedule, easing upfront costs for coal producers. The proposal aims to support Wyoming’s coal industry while maintaining government revenue.  Sheridan Media

  • Ethan Tauscher won his 155-pound bout at Blood of Heroes at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall on Saturday, March 7, 2026 after knocking down Darion White Tyson Lund with a second-round TKO.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan Lady Broncs will battle Cheyenne Central in the East Regionals today. Officials will share the venue and time details soon (final plans are pending).  City of Sheridan
