COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Black Mountain Nordic, a nonprofit boosting Nordic skiing, received a $10,000 grant from the Sheridan-Johnson Counties Local Board of the Wyoming Community Foundation as part of a $227,592 fall award in 2025 — it plans to expand local non-motorized winter recreation programs.  Sheridan Media
  • Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns partners with homeowners in Sheridan and Johnson counties (targeting those 50 and older) to deliver essential repairs that keep homes safe and accessible. CULTURE NEWS

  • The All-Schools 5th Grade Student Art Show remains on view through March 2 at the Brinton Museum in Big Horn. The museum will welcome visitors Thursday through Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free.  Sheridan Media

ECONOMY NEWS

  • USDA reported that 15,000 small farms closed or consolidated in 2025, with Texas losing 2,000 and 8,000 of them being low-earning, while Wyoming remained stable without any farm bankruptcies (local Farm Bureau officials say consolidation is natural when operators retire).  Cowboy State Daily

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Wyoming Extension Sheep Task Force will host a free webinar on managing flock health during lambing season on Tuesday, March 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom, with a second session on Thursday, March 26.  City of Sheridan
  • On Monday, Feb. 23, SCSD#2 and NWCC held a joint meeting in Sheridan to discuss concurrent and dual enrollment and to relaunch their partnership as the Northern Wyoming Career Pathways Partnership, which officials said will offer work-based learning and credit transfer options to help students and families save money.  City of Sheridan
  • The Museum at the Bighorns has restarted school programs for third and fourth graders and expanded community events using interactive lessons from local history. It secured $25,000 (from the Teaching with Primary Sources Great Plains Region program) to support classroom visits and community tours.  City of Sheridan

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department reported that the Access Yes program provided hunting access to 2,547,138 acres in 2025 across all 23 counties. It also granted access to 190,015 acres of public land, giving landowners wildlife management support while expanding public hunting and fishing opportunities in the region.  City of Sheridan

  • Sheridan vintage snowmobile racers tested their sleds in preparation for West Yellowstone Expo ’26 set for March 6-7, and around 15 local racers will compete at the event.  Sheridan Media
