COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Sheridan Community Land Trust is hosting a volunteer work party on Sunday, Feb. 8 from 12 to 3 p.m. at Big Goose Natural Area where volunteers will clean a historic streetcar by removing broken glass and debris (tools, materials, and refreshments provided) and are asked to wear proper work clothes.  Sheridan Media
  • The Food Group received a competitive grant from the Sheridan-Johnson Counties Local Board of the Wyoming Community Foundation to help reduce childhood hunger in the area, and executive director Oaklee Gilliland noted the important role of volunteers.   • On Feb. 4, REACH donated sensory bags to the Sheriff’s Department to help autistic children cope during crisis; each deputy car now carries a bag containing a weighted lap pad + instructions.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • Repertory Dance Theatre returns to the WYO Theater today with 'Excursions' — a program featuring modern and contemporary dance works and outreach workshops at local groups. The company has collaborated with organizations like Meadowlark Elementary and Sheridan College to promote community arts.  Sheridan Media
  • The Brinton Museum opened its doors on Feb. 5 for the 2026 season & welcomed visitors with free admission at the historic Quarter Circle A Ranch.  The Sheridan Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sheridan County School District #2 (SCSD#2) held a public forum on Wednesday, Feb. 4 where community members heard from four superintendent finalists as the board began a rigorous interview process ahead of Superintendent Scott Stults’ planned retirement at the end of the school year.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan County School District 2 will host a Community Legislative Conversation on Feb. 10 at 6 p.m.—local residents are invited to join the discussion.  The Sheridan Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming Game and Fish Department announced the Fishing Outfitter and Guides Advisory Board will meet virtually at 6 p.m. on Feb. 10, open to the public on Zoom; the board will update on the registration process and report its future direction.  Sheridan Media
  • State officials are seeking public comment on three proposed grants totaling $11.7M that include a $6M project for Peabody Energy to extract critical minerals from Wyoming coal. Public input will help shape the final decisions as the proposals move forward.  Casper Star-Tribune

  • On Thursday at Dayton, the Tongue River Lady Eagles hosted the Big Horn Lady Rams in a game — the Lady Rams won 45—27.  Sheridan Media
