CULTURE NEWS

  • Sheridan Community Land Trust will host the free SCLT Explore History program featuring historian Donovin Sprague discussing the Powder River Expedition in eastern Wyoming. Two sessions will be held — one at The Hub on Smith on Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and one at the Tongue River Valley Community Center in Dayton on Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 10:30 a.m. to noon — inviting community members of all ages to learn about regional history.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sheridan County School District #2 will host a community conversation about potential legislative impacts on public schools on Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Commons Room at Sheridan Junior High School.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan County School Districts 2 and 3 are hosting legislative forums this month so community members can ask questions and share concerns — details on locations and schedules will be announced soon.  The Sheridan Press
  • Wyoming legislators will consider new education measures in the upcoming 2026 session, and local educators are watching for proposals that may shape classroom programs.  Casper Star-Tribune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming has had a warm winter with little snow, and meteorologists say if February’s temperatures hold, cities such as Casper and Cheyenne may record one of their warmest winters – meteorological winter started on Dec. 1 and ends Feb. 28.  Wyoming News Now
  • Wildlife researchers have used 120 remote cameras in Yellowstone to capture millions of photos and employ AI to sort species to reduce animal stress, and a recent Wyoming Game and Fish operation near Parkman saw two helicopters collide during a capture attempt, with no injuries reported.  Cowboy State Daily

  • Sheridan officials say the Wyoming Business Council has boosted local projects + driven community growth as lawmakers consider proposals to limit its role. They expect the council’s support to benefit residents while discussions continue.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
