CULTURE NEWS

  • Chancey Williams warned fans today on social media about scammers using fake accounts to sell tickets, send manipulated videos and false messages of romance (he urges followers to verify his official pages).  Cowboy State Daily
  • The Chamber welcomed Pieknik’s School of Dance with an Ambassadors’ ribbon cutting on Friday, Jan. 23. The school now offers ballet, pointe, jazz, contemporary and creative movement classes at the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center at 42 N. Main St.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sheridan College will host its 16th annual rodeo banquet on Saturday, March 7 at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome on campus - doors open at 5:00 p.m.  The Sheridan Press
  • The Johnson County School District saw enrollment drop by two students from December to January, falling from 1,091 to 1,089. The report noted gains at Meadowlark Elementary and losses at Buffalo High and other schools.  Sheridan Media
  • Valor Academy juniors and seniors completed two rounds of 20-minute mock interviews with local community employers during their career and independent living course on Wednesday, Jan. 28. The exercise offered practical experience to prepare for future job opportunities.  Sheridan Media
  • The Tongue River Branch Library is receiving scheduled updates today as part of the Sheridan County Library System’s grant-funded project. The branch (3,350 sqft) now features reconfigured shelving for a larger youth area and a quieter nonfiction space, while book holds, Wi-Fi access, and two computers remain available.  Sheridan Media

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Effective Jan. 31, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department will retire the Sage-Grouse Local Working Groups (LWG) after 21 years of conservation work. The department said the change will help reallocate funding and personnel to statewide sage-grouse efforts.  Sheridan Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Sen. Eric Barlow is pushing the Stem Cell Freedom Act, which would let doctors use patients’ own stem cells for treatment + set safety guidelines. The bill will be considered when the legislative session opens Feb. 9.  Cowboy State Daily
  • National Energy Assistance Day takes place on February 2 and reminds households meeting income guidelines to apply for Wyoming's Low Income Energy Assistance Program before the April 30 deadline—helping with winter heating bills. The program supports eligible homeowners and renters in need of crisis aid.  Sheridan Media

  • Sheridan Broncs' swimmer Maclane Moore clocked a state-qualifying time in the 400-meter freestyle during a dual meet against Thunder Basin on Tuesday, Jan. 27; his performance boosted team spirit at the meet.  City of Sheridan
