COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter reported a strong year in 2025 as Executive Director AJ Evans said the shelter kept its surrender list current and joined an inter-shelter animal transfer program — boosting adoptions by adding incoming animals and sending animals to other locations.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sheridan will host the Fly Fishing Film Tour at the WYO Theater on Saturday, Feb. 7, starting at 5:45 p.m. with doors opening at 4:30 p.m.; proceeds benefit stream restoration at Big Goose Natural Area & support Sheridan Community Land Trust projects.  Sheridan Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Community members and school officials are encouraged to attend a public forum (6 to 8 p.m.) on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Clearmont School to review the proposed school funding re-calibration, with the legislative session beginning Feb. 9. Lunch with the Community will be held on Feb. 4 from 11:30 a.m. to noon for $5, with orders due by Jan. 29.  Sheridan Media
  • State lawmakers scaled back proposed education funding cuts last week after teachers, parents, and administrators raised concerns about the plan in meetings. The legislative committee responded to the pushback in a bid to support local schools.  Wyoming Tribune Eagle
  • Sheridan County School District No. 2 announced four finalists to replace retiring Superintendent Scott Stults, who served 27 years. Interviews will be held on Feb. 3 and Feb. 4 and a community forum (6:30 p.m. at Sheridan Junior High School) will let residents ask questions.  Sheridan Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting tomorrow in Sheridan to review safety and efficiency improvements for the Coffeen Avenue corridor.  The Sheridan Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • At Tuesday's dual meet against Thunder Basin, Sheridan Broncs' swimmers delivered strong performances by recording state-qualifying times across several events and winning in the 100-meter butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke events (Maclane Moore reached a key milestone in the 400-meter freestyle).  Sheridan Media
