  • The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of the 2025 Bob DeFries Ambassador Service Awards in Sheridan (recognizing residents for exceptional service).  The Sheridan Press

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Potential instructors are invited by the Chamber’s Business Retention & Expansion Committee to submit training proposals by Feb. 13 for the Ignite Conference on Tuesday, May 19 at Ramada Plaza. The conference will offer professional development for business owners and sponsorship opportunities remain available.  Sheridan Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • Valor Academy presents a comical twist on Shakespeare with its production of The Tragicomedy of Julia Caesar at the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center today at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.  The Sheridan Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Wednesday, Jan. 14, the SCSD#3 Board held a meeting where 35 community members shared concerns over the mandatory house system, library resources, and declining enrollment. The board approved new policies & will host a listening session on Feb. 4 on a Profile of a Graduate.  Sheridan Media
  • Sheridan College may face a funding hit if Gillette College gets accredited sooner than expected. College President Dr. Walter Tribley said the timeline could shift to July 1 — legislative changes may follow, though the college has reserve funds.  Sheridan Media

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department reported that big game hunting in the Sheridan region will end Jan. 31 as late-season cow/calf elk hunts close. Wildlife biologists noted improvements in deer and elk harvests and asked hunters to complete harvest surveys to guide future wildlife management.  Sheridan Media
  • Wildlife managers from Wyoming Game and Fish are using a helicopter to net mule deer along the eastern and western foothills for two management projects this January. The project—running from Jan. 17—22—aims to collect vital data to find out why the herds have declined.  Sheridan Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Gordon and the Wyoming Semiquincentennial Planning Task Force announced final grant awards today. In Sheridan County, a flag contest + local exhibit will celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.  Sheridan Media

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Sheridan Broncs hosted Natrona County on Thursday, Jan. 15, where 175-pounder Braxten Crow won by fall (a key moment in a tightly contested match). The win marked an exciting start to the season for the local team.  Sheridan Media
