- ➤ Dustin Stephens took charge of the Hub on Smith in November 2025 after half a million dollars in cuts forced adjustments for over 3,400 seniors relying on meals+rides. He is leading a Holiday Spirit Campaign to secure essential services for Sheridan seniors. Sheridan Media

- ➤ Sheridan Community Land Trust's Explore History program will feature Thomas Hebert from the Natural History Museum, who will share dinosaur facts and tribal wisdom. The free talk runs Tuesday, Jan. 13 at The Hub on Smith plus Tuesday, Jan. 20 at the Tongue River Valley Community Center in Dayton. Sheridan Media
- ➤ During a recent First Day Hike at Fort Phil Kearny, Site Superintendent Sharie Shada explained how regimental bands—vital to historic frontier posts near Sheridan—lifted morale on the isolated frontier, and noted that the American Legion continues this local tradition during parades and hikes. - ➤ The WYO Performing Arts and Education Center fills its theaters with events this January in the Classic Western Series, starting with Destry Rides Again at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, followed by There Was a Crooked Man at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, and Cowboy at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25. Sheridan Media

- ➤ On January 5, Lake DeSmet Operations Manager Paul Mavrakis briefed the Johnson County Commission on the lake’s yearly activities. He described inspections, irrigation releases between July 3 and October 3 that moved roughly 10,000 acre-feet of water to 30 users, and the issuance of 15 temporary private dock permits. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Johnson County Healthcare Center is exploring a role in the Rural Training Program for providers, CEO Luke Senden told the board on January 5. The center would join the state’s only rural track (University of Wyoming’s Family Medicine Residency Program in Thermopolis) to provide full-spectrum family medicine training. City of Sheridan

- ➤ The Sheridan County Soccer Association announced that registration for Storm Soccer Spring 2026 season is now open through Feb. 6 in Sheridan. Interested players should check with the association for details and registration steps. The Sheridan Press
